# The warehouse hub I built from A to Z to stop a seven-figure oil loss

Used cooking oil was going missing between the collector and the port, a loss the company put at seven figures a year, and a paper slip and a spreadsheet could not say where. I designed, built, and shipped the Arabic warehouse hub that monitors every step from the gate to the tank to the ship, with a live truck scale read in the browser and photo evidence on every weighing.

A collector loads used cooking oil in the field and brings it to a warehouse. It goes into a tank, and later it goes to the port. The record of all that was a slip at the gate and a spreadsheet at the desk, which could tell you the quantity that left and the quantity that arrived and nothing about the distance between them. The company was losing oil somewhere in there, by its own estimate seven figures' worth every year, and the paperwork could not say where.

So the warehouse needed to stop being a blind spot. I designed and built the product that closed it: the Arabic interface, the backend, the deployment, and the support after launch. That meant a web app reading a physical truck scale, live, in the browser. It worked on my laptop. On the warehouse PC, the scale read zero.

## What the full case study covers

- Why the warehouse is the one link in the chain where a quantity can be proved
- How one receiving screen routes each trip into one of two ways of verifying what arrived
- The day at the weighbridge, and five problems you only find standing next to the hardware
- What happened to the slips and the spreadsheets once the product was in daily use
