# About Ahmed Amr

Ahmed Amr is a product designer and design engineer based in Cairo, Egypt. Since 2018 I have designed and shipped products for fintech, cross-border payments, food delivery and field operations companies operating in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and the United States, working remotely with teams across MENA, EMEA and North America. I build design systems that engineers install from npm, and I am open to full-time roles, remote or relocating, and to freelance projects.

## What do you do?

I design products and build the front end that ships them: field research, information architecture, interaction design, design systems and React implementation. Recent work includes [a design system published to npm](https://www.ahmedamr.com/work/tagaddod-mcp-design-system), [a field operations platform](https://www.ahmedamr.com/work/tagaddod-operations) and [a warehouse product built end to end](https://www.ahmedamr.com/work/warehouse-center).

## Where are you based, and where do you work?

Cairo, Egypt, on UTC+2. I work remotely with teams across MENA and Europe on fully overlapping hours, and with North America on a partial overlap. I am open to relocating for the right role.

## Are you available for hire?

Yes. I am open to full-time product design and design engineering roles, remote or relocating, and to freelance projects. The fastest way to reach me is [the contact form](https://www.ahmedamr.com/contact); a reply comes inside a week and usually the same day.

## Which industries have you worked in?

Fintech and retail investing at Thndr, cross-border payments and card programmes at Hawala, food delivery and restaurant loyalty at Koinz, waste-to-energy field operations at Tagaddod, and creator tools at Reach. Most of that work served customers in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait.

## How do you work with engineers?

As one of them. I ship most interface work as React and TypeScript rather than as Figma handoffs, publish design tokens and components that engineers install from npm, and keep Storybook and the documentation in step with the code. [The design system case study](https://www.ahmedamr.com/work/tagaddod-mcp-design-system) shows the whole pipeline, from Figma variables to a component library with an MCP server for coding agents.

## Which tools do you use?

Figma and FigJam for design, ProtoPie for prototypes that need real logic, React, TypeScript, CSS and Storybook for the build, Style Dictionary for tokens, and Amplitude and Smartlook for the numbers and the recordings behind a decision.
